I studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Illinois, where I focused on structural mechanics, manufacturing processes, and design for validation.

As a Frame Designer for Baja SAE, I owned the tube-frame structure—from initial packaging layouts and rules-compliant geometry through FEA-based optimization and manufacturing handoff.

A snapshot of how I combine 3D CAD modeling, FEA analysis, and metrology validation using CMM to deliver robust mechanical designs.

3D CAD Modeling

Feature tree: clean & parametric

Created detailed 3D CAD models of the Baja SAE frame, suspension pickup points, and critical brackets with fully constrained, parametric geometry. Used configurations and reference geometry to evaluate packaging options without losing design intent.

FEA Analysis

Factor of safety: targeted

Ran linear static FEA on the frame to evaluate torsional stiffness, impact loading, and roll-over scenarios. Used constraints and load cases based on rules and track conditions, iterating tube sizes and gussets until stress and deflection met targets.

Metrology & CMM

Deviation: within tolerance

Developed a metrology validation plan for the frame, using CMM measurements to compare as-built geometry to the CAD model. Analyzed deviations at key suspension and drivetrain interfaces, and fed results back into future design and fixturing decisions.
